š Materials Needed:
Raw beeswax
Large pot or double boiler
Fine mesh strainer or cheesecloth
Water
mold
šStep-by-Step Instructions:
1. Break the Wax
Scrape off any large chunks of debris (honey, propolis, bee parts).
2. Melt the Wax (Double Boiler Method)
Place the wax in a container (like a metal bowl or old pot).
Set it inside a larger pot with water ā this is your double boiler.
Gently heat on low to medium heat. Beeswax melts around 145°F (63°C).
Never heat directly over a flame ā it's flammable.
3. Strain the Wax
While the wax is fully melted, pour it through a cheesecloth or fine strainer into a mold or container.
This removes impurities like dirt, cocoons, and bee bits.
You may need to strain it twice for extra clarity.
4. Let It Cool
Allow the wax to solidify completely.
Once solid, any leftover debris may sink to the bottom. You can scrape it off and remelt if needed.
5. Optional: Repeat for Extra Purity
If you want a cleaner, brighter beeswax (for cosmetics or polish), repeat the melting and straining process once or twice.
